Our chessies come from a long line of healthy and strong Chesapeake Bay Retrievers. They are great hunters, smart, and obedient but have a mind of their own. They make great loving companions to add to your family and to your hunting game.

Chessies are strong, powerfully built gundogs standing anywhere from 21 to 26 inches at the shoulder and weighing up to 80 pounds. The distinctive breed trait is a solid-colored, wavy coat that is oily to the touch, making it great at repelling water.

Chessies are more emotionally complex than the usual gundog. Chessies take to training but have a mind of their own and can tenaciously pursue their own path. They are protective of their humans and polite but not overtly friendly to strangers. A well-socialized Chessie is a confident companion and a world-class hunting buddy.
